Who we are: Delta Community is a non-auditioned SATB (soprano/alto/tenor/bass) choral ensemble for committed singers (experienced and inexperienced) from Delta Township and area communities who want to explore and perform a variety of quality choral literature in a musically non-threatening environment and have fun while doing this. Organized in January 2013 with 26 singers, our first concert in May of 2013 raised a freewill offering of close to $1,000 for the Volunteers of America Lansing Area Homeless Veteran's Program. When we began rehearsals in the Fall of 2013, we grew to over 40 singers--all of whom brought their love of singing and talent and work ethic to this community choir. Our generous audience freewill donations (in lieu of an entrance ticket or fee) have raised approximately $5,000 for such worthy non-profit organizations as the SIREN/Eaton Shelter, the National Guard Family Readiness Program of Grand Ledge and Hannah's House of Lansing. Our Fall 2014 concert proceeds will go to the Delta-Waverly Rotary Backpack Program. We run off from membership fees at this time to pay for music, folders, accompanist fees, instrumentalist fees, guest artists. We have elected our first Board of Directors, and we have completed the first step towards becoming a non-profit organization. We are in the process of becoming a member of the Greater Lansing Area Art Council and are looking into sponsorships, and how to build community relationships.
